The waste generated from ever-growing population centers eventually needs to be taken care of and building more landfills is not the ideal long term solution. Turning waste into energy not only negates the need for more landfills, but also provides a vital power resource. These units do present some unique challenges due to the ever-changing waste streams used as a fuel source and the lower temperatures the catalyst is subjected to downstream of the baghouse. DNX (DeNOx) and DNO (dual function NOx, CO and VOC) catalysts have excellent resistance to ammonium bisulfate (ABS) which can be formed due to SO2/SO3present in the flue gas at lower temperatures.

DNX® and DNO catalysts also oxidize gaseous dioxins and furans (PCDD/PCDF). These toxic substances are often formed during the incineration of waste, but the DNX® and DNO catalysts can ensure dioxin and furan destruction efficiencies close to 100%.
