Biomass

Using biomass as an energy source is becoming more and more common in today’s energy market. Everything from wood and bark, agricultural residue, animal waste, sewage sludge to energy crops like switchgrass are utilized as fuel. Although many energy systems running on biomass are considered “CO₂ neutral”, Umicore’s DNX^® catalyst plays an important role in reducing other harmful emissions (such as NOx) from these fuels.

Umicore’s DNX^® catalyst is designed specifically for high NOx removal in biomass boiler applications and can be customized to fit in any size boiler. The trimodal pore structure of the catalyst provides the highest available activity in addition to excellent resistance to poisons from the many different biomass fuels.  Umicore has extensive knowhow and experience in supplying effective catalyst systems for biomass applications.
